We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who assisted with the clothing distribution last week. Here are a few details that help illustrate the impact of this wonderful event.
Nearly 20,000 pounds of clothing, including gently used winter coats, boots, snowpants, hats, gloves, clothing for all ages, and handmade quilts were distributed across two days. Thanks to the stake's generous donations to our first ever sock and underwear drive, we were also able to give away 1,623 pairs of new socks and 1,313 pairs of new underwear.
A total of 1,153 patrons attended the event, shopping for a total of 2,241 individuals. Remaining clothing was donated to several community partners who are engaged in ongoing work to serve and bless our community.
All this was made possible through the Christlike service of 289 volunteers who gave over 928 hours of service, in addition to the collaboration of over 30 community partners, in particular The Salvation Army and Lansing School District.
We can say with confidence that we felt the hand of the Lord guiding and blessing our efforts throughout the entire process. Each smile given, each article of clothing sorted with care, each act of thoughtful shopping assistance given to a patron, made a meaningful and lasting impact. We appreciate your willingness to give of your time and talents to serve our brothers and sisters in our community, and pray that you will carry with you the blessings of your service as your move forward.
With love and gratitude,
The Lansing Michigan Stake
